Alendronate, a second-generation bisphosphonate is the first member of a group of drugs which strengthens bone. It is used to treat corticosteroid-induced osteoporosis and Paget's disease, to reduce hypercalcemia in tumor-induced bone disease, and to prevent osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.
The recommended dose per day is 5-10 mg or 35-70 mg once in a week.
Used in the treatment of osteoporosis in men, postmenopausal women and for Pagets disease.
Oesophagitis, constipation, oesophageal ulcers, & erosions, dysphagia, heartburn, retrosternal pain, abdominal pain, distension, flatulance, diarrhoea, headcahe, erthyema, rash, musculoskeletal pain, transient decreases in serum phospate.
Highly active vitamin D analogues or fluorides
Contraindicated in lactation and pregnancy.
Store it at room temperature in a well closed container.
