Amantadine is an antiviral drug which also acts as an antiparkinson agent, for which it is usually combined with L-DOPA when Levo DOPA responses decline. It is a derivate of adamantane, like a similar drug rimantadine. It has been shown to cause an increase in dopamine release in the animal brain, and does not possess anticholinergic activity.
The recommended daily dosage of Amantadine is 200 mg in either single or divided doses.
Anti-parkinsonism, Viral infections such as influenza A virus, certain types of flu.
Depression, headache, confusion, fatigue, dry nose, eye inflammation, constipation, diarrhea.
Avoid using FluMist (nasal flu vaccine) while are taking Amantadine. Do not consume alcoholic beverages, coffee and even caffeinated drinks, these beverages could impair the Amantadine metabolism.
Pregnancy, lactation and in elder people
Store at 20-25°C.

Do not take Amantadine if you are diagnosed with congestive heart failure, hypotension, renal disorders, eczema, glaucoma, hepatic disorders, epileptic disorders, history of mental illness with or without drug/alcohol addiction.
