4-amino-5-(ethanesulfonyl)-N-[(1-ethylpyrrolidin-2-yl)methyl]-2-methoxybenzamide
This drug selectively binds with dopamine D (2) and D (3) receptors in the limbic system. In low doses, amisulpride block presynaptic D (2)/D (3)-dopamine autoreceptors preferentially, thereby enhancing dopaminergic transmission, whereas in higher doses block postsynaptic receptors, inhibits the dopaminergic hyperactivity. Amisulpride also have 5-ht7 antagonistic effect, useful in depression treatment.
Amisulpride tablets for oral use.50 mg, 100 mg, 200 mg, and 400 mg.
Used to treat psychosis in schizophrenia and episodes of mania in bipolar disorder.
Weight gain, dizziness, postural hypotension, extrapyramidal symptoms and neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Hyperprolactinaemia, CNS effects, GI disorders and dry mouth.
Contraindicated in pregnancy and in lactation, in Pheochromocytoma, in Children <15 yr and in prolactin-dependent tumors contraindicated.
Store it at room temperature and in an air tight container.
