Amoxapine is a tetracyclic antidepressant of the dibenzoxazepine family, though it is often classified as a secondary amine tricyclic antidepressant. It is the N-demethylated metabolite of loxapine.

Amoxapine is a tricyclic antidepressant of the dibenzoxazepine class. Amoxapine acts by decreasing the reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin (5-HT).
50-100 mg, two or three times a day per oral
Prescribed for depression
Postural hypotension, conduction disturbances, tachycardia, dry mouth, blurring of vision, constipation, urinary retention, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, tremors, headache, confusion and delirium in elderly, weight gain, tardive dyskinesia, neuroleptic malignant syndrome, sexual disturbances.
Hypersensitivity, recent MI, concurrent treatment with MAOIs, mania, heart block or other cardiac arrhythmias, severe liver disease.
Keep this medication in a tightly closed container, out of reach of children.
