Selective inhibition of the pre-synaptic norepinephrine transporter.

Starting dose is 0.5 mg/kg bodyweight and the dosage can be increased after 3 days in divided doses. The maximum dose should not exceed 1.2 mg/kg/day.

Treatment of Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

• Do not consume alcohol while taking Atomoxetine hydrochloride
• Atomoxetine hydrochloride may interact with MAOIs, fluoxetine, paroxetine, pressor agents, albuterol, anti-hypertensive drugs, midazolam, methylphenidate, desipramine, aspirin, antacids and PPIs.

Precautions

Atomoxetine should not be prescribed to individuals with behavioral disorders, history of suicide attempt or ideation, bipolar disorders, hostility, pheochromocytoma, narrow-angle glaucoma and CVD.
