Pharmacokinetics

Actions

Balofloxacin exerts bactericidal property by inhibition of bacterial DNA gyrase. The enzyme is important for synthesis of bacterial DNA.

Dosage/Dosage form

100 mg twice daily per oral

Therapeutic uses

Treatment of various bacterial infections including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, infective ophthalmitis, community-acquired pneumonia, acute exacerbation, sinusitis, skin infections and chronic bronchitis.

Interaction

Balofloxacin can interact with NSAIDs, other quinolone derivatives, theophylline and antacids containing aluminium and magnesium salts.
