Pharmacokinetics

Actions

Bendamustine forms a covalent bond with nucleophilic moieties that result in interstand DNA crosslinks. The bifunctional covalent cross linking leads to chemical cell death.

Dosage/Dosage form

The recommended dose is 100 mg/m2 over 30 min IV infusions on days 1&2 of 28 days cycle, up to 6 cycles.

Therapeutic uses

Treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Adverse effects/Side effects

Fever, nausea, headache, vomiting, fatigue, drowsiness, cough, mouth ulcers, constipation and abdominal pain.

Interaction

Bendamustine may interact with thiabendazole, ciprofloxacin, carbamazepine, barbiturates, fluvoxamine, cimetidine and omeprazole.

Contraindications

Bendamustine is contraindicated in smokers, patients with hepatic diseases, metabolic disorders, infections, immune disorders, liver diseases and renal disorders.

Store at 20-25°C.
