Dosage/Dosage form

Oral dose of 2-4 mg once daily increase the dose upto 8 mg if necessary 

Therapeutic uses

For the treatment of hypertension and chest pain.

Adverse effects/Side effects

Palpitation, headache, abdominal discomfort, facial flushing, sleepiness, nausea, hot flushes, chest pressure sensation, dizziness, constipation, oedema, tinnitus, redness and warm feeling in the fingers, shoulder stiffness, hypersensitive reactions, elevation of SGOT, SGPT, total bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase, creatinine and uric acid.

Interaction

  • Cimetidine may inhibit benidipine metabolism.
  • β-blockers or diuretics may enhance BP control.
  • Serum concentrations of digoxin may be increased. 

Contraindications

Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.

Precautions
