Bevacizumab is an antineoplastic agent and prevents or reduces the formation of blood vessels (angiogenesis) thereby preventing or reducing metastatic disease progressing it binds to VEGF and prevents vascular endothelial cell proliferation and endothelial growth.

As part of combination therapy for metastatic colorectal cancer and HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer.

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in patients with hole in intestine or stomach
  • Bevacizumab is contraindicated in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, uncontrolled bleeding disorders, need to undergo surgery or had underwent surgery, GI perforations, history of stroke or MI or CHF.
