Pharmacokinetics

Actions

It belongs to a class of drugs known as ERAs (endothelin receptor antagonists). Bosentan blocks the binding of endothelin to its receptors, by negating the endothelin's deleterious effects.

Dosage/Dosage form

Start with 62.5 mg, twice daily for four weeks. For maintenance therapy, the drug dosage can be increased to 125 mg, twice daily. 

Therapeutic uses

For the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Interaction

Drugs such as warfarin, statins, diltiazem, Amiodarone, erythromycin, rifampicin, itraconazole, ketoconazole, fluconazole and tacrolimus may interact with Bosentan monohydrate.
