Pharmacokinetics

Actions

Bromfenac ophthalmic solution lower elevated IOP, vascular permeability, vasodilation and leucocytosis.

Dosage/Dosage form

Apply one drop of Bromfenac ophthalmic solution, once daily, in the affected eye, one day prior to cataract surgery. 

Therapeutic uses

Prescribed for the treatment of postoperative inflammation of eyes and to lower post-operative ocular pain in cataract patients.

Precautions

  • Bromfenac ophthalmic solution may worsen or delay wound healing.
  • Precaution should be taken in asthmatic patients while prescribing bromfenac ophthalmic solution as it may cause serious allergic reactions due to the presence of sodium sulfite.
  • Bromfenac ophthalmic solution may impair platelet aggregation and increase bleeding risk in eye tissues.
  • Keratitis and Corneal reactions are common in bromfenac ophthalmic solution treatment due to erosion, corneal ulceration, or perforation.
