Dobutamine directly stimulates beta-1 receptors of the heart to increase myocardial contractility and stroke volume, resulting in increased cardiac output.

Intravenous

Adrenergic agent, Cardiac stimulants

Palpitation, headache, nausea, increased heart rate and blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmias, tissue necrosis.

• Increased vasopressor effect of dobutamine when used with oxytocic drugs, bretylium, guanethidine or TCAs.
• Increased cardiac output when used with nitroprusside.

• Hypersensitivity
• Pregnancy
• Idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis (IHSS).

Precautions

During the administration of Dobutamine Injection, as with any adrenergic agent, ECG, pulmonary wedge pressure, cardiac output and blood pressure should be continuously monitored.
