Oral absorption
It is an analog of GABA, used as an anticonvulsant drug to treat ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), partial seizures, and painful neuropathies. Gabapentin has high lipid solubility, is not metabolized by the liver, has no protein binding, and doesn't possess the usual drug interactions.

It is anticonvulsant, prescribed for epilepsy and post herpetic neuralgia.
Somnolence, dizziness, ataxia, weakness, paraesthesia, fatigue, headache; nystagmus, diplopia; nausea, vomiting, wt gain, dyspepsia; rhinitis; tremor; leucopenia; altered LFTs; Stevens-Johnson syndrome.
