Actions

The precise mechanism of action of topical corticosteroids is unclear. However they possess anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, and vasoconstrictive actions.

Dosage/Dosage form

Apply 0.1% of medication onto the affected area as ointment or lotion or cream.

Therapeutic uses

Indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

Adverse effects/Side effects

Prolonged application causes epidermal thinning, contact dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, popular disorder, mild depigmentation; telangiectasia, striae (especially face and flexures).

Primary infectious (viral, fungal, bacterial) ulcers, hypersensitivity, acne vulgaris.

Precautions
