Hydroxyprogesterone caproate is indicated for the prevention of spontaneous preterm births in singleton pregnancies in women who have previously had a spontaneous preterm birth.
Allergic skin rashes, GI disturbances, weight gain or loss, increased appetite, oedema, urticaria, acne, mental depression, cough, discomfort in breast; dyspnoea, circulatory disturbances. Pain at site of injection
Increased clearance when used with enzyme inducers e.g. Carbamazepine and Phenytoin. May inhibit metabolism of Ciclosporin.
Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, breast cancer, pregnancy, lactation. Thrombophlebitis, thromboembolic disorders, cerebral apoplexy or a history of these conditions. Markedly impaired liver function.
