Dosage/Dosage form

The dosage must be individualized. SC- The total daily insulin requirement may vary and is usually between 0.5 to 1 unit/kg/day.

Therapeutic uses

For the treatment of Type 1 or 2 diabetes mellitus. To be used in conjunction with intermediate or long-acting insulin except when used in continuous insulin infusion pump.

Adverse effects/Side effects

Flu syndrome, inflammation of pharynx, nose, headache, pain, increased cough , infection, nausea, accidental injury, fever, abdominal pain, weakness, diarrhea, painful menstrual period, muscle pain, and urinary tract infection.

Interaction

  • Insulin Lispro can interact with reserpine, clonidipine, albuterol, beta-blockers such as timolol, metoprolol, labetalol, atenolol and nadolol.
  • Direct exposure of Insulin Lispro to sunlight can result in degradation of insulin molecules.
  • Do not consume alcohol while receiving Insulin Lispro. It can result in serious form of hypoglycemia. 

Contraindications

  • Insulin Lispro is contraindicated in patients with hepatic or renal diseases. 
  • Contraindicated in patients with an episode of low blood sugar, and hypersensitivity.
