Dosage/Dosage form

PO- The recommended dose is 1 to 2.5mg/day as single dose; maximum allowed dose is 5mg/day.

Therapeutic uses

For the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.

Adverse effects/Side effects

Some of the commonly reported adverse events of Naratriptan are agitation, paced heart beats, vomiting, headache, loss of coordination, overactive reflexes, pain or tightness in jaw, hemiplegia, weakness, central cyanosis, hallucination, dizziness and drowsiness.

Interaction

  • Co-administration of Naratriptan with ergot-containing drugs may result in prolonged vasospastic reactions.
  • This drug may interact with SNRIs (Serotonin Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors) SSRIs and (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors).
  • Concomitant use of Naratriptan with other 5-HT1 agonists is contraindicated.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients with history of heart disease, brain disorders, liver impairment and elderly.
