Riluzole is a drug used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Riluzole delays the onset of ventilator-dependence or tracheostomy in selected patients and may increase survival by approximately two to three months.

Riluzole, a member of the benzothiazole class, is indicated for the treatment of patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Riluzole extends survival and/or time to tracheostomy.
The recommended dose is 50 mg orally every 12 hours.
For the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig's disease)
Tiredness, muscle weakness, difficulty in breathing, fever. Upset stomach, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.
Riluzole is contraindicated in patients with renal or hepatic diseases. Do not receive live virus vaccine while using Riluzole.
