It is a cyclic amine and a synthetic antiviral drug and a derivate of adamantane, like a similar drug amantadine. It is inhibitory to the replication of influenza A virus isolates from H1N1, H2H2 and H3N2 (antigenic subtypes) in vitro that have been isolated from man.
The recommended dose is 100 mg twice a day. Maximum: 150mg per oral.
For the prophylaxis and treatment of illness caused by various strains of influenza A virus in adults.
Nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dry mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhea and indigestion. Sleeplessness, nervousness, impaired concentration, dizziness, depression, headache and fatigue.
Rimantadine may interact with aspirin, acetaminophen, cimetidine and nasal flu vaccine.
Rimantadine is contraindicated in patients with hepatic and/or renal diseases and seizure disorders.
Store at 20-25°C.
