Roxatidine acetate suppresses the effect of histamine on the parietal cells of the stomach (H2-receptor antagonist). This suppressive action is dose-dependent. As a result, the production and secretion, particularly of gastric acid, are reduced.
PO- The recommended dose is 150mg/day.
For the treatment of duodenal ulcers, benign gastric ulcers. Also for prophylaxis of recurrent gastric and duodenal ulcers.
Occasional headache, GI disturbances, gynaecomastia, alopoecia, blood dyscrasias, pancreatitis, sleep disturbances, restlessness, and dizziness. Hypersensitivity reactions e.g. rash and itching reported occasionally.
May affect serum levels of protease inhibitors
Lactation. Porphyria.
Store it at room temperature and in an airtight container.
