Description

1.    PURPOSE

1.1    To lay down the procedure for Gas chromatograph (Aster) -Equipment identification number: LAB.

2.      RESPONSIBILITY

2.1         Sr.Assitant-QC

3.     ACCOUNTABILITY

3.1         Asst.Manager-QC 
        
4.         PROCEDURE

4.1        Connect the instrument to 230volts A/C power supply.
4.2        Switch on the instrument.
4.3        Open the door of the oven and connect the required column.
4.4        Set the carrier gas pressure as per the requirement by rotating the carrier knob on.
4.5        Ensure that no leak is observed near the column ends by spraying soap solution.
4.6        No air bubbles should be observed near the column ends when IPA solution is     sprayed.
4.7        Close the oven door properly.
4.8        Hold oven power key and press execute.
4.9        Hold Zone power key and press execute.
4.10    To set the Oven temperature, hold SB&ISO1 key, enter the required   
            temperature by using “?,?,?,?” numerical keys and press execute.
4.11    Hold Zone-1/Zone-3 key enter the injector temperature and press execute. 
4.12    Hold Zone-2 key enter the detector temperature and press execute.
4.13    Hold Rate key enter the ramp value and press execute.
4.14    Hold the Time keys enter the hold time and press execute.
4.15    Turn Hydrogen and zero air knobs on as per requirement.
4.16    Press the ignition Key to ignite the detector.
4.17    Set the detector Range and attenuation on the instrument by pressing the respective     keys.
4.18    Then switch on the software program through computer.
4.19    Double click on the winchrome icon.
4.20    Again double click on Run icon.
4.21    Run mode shall be displays on the screen.
4.22    Select the Run menu and click on sample name.
4.23    Sample name window displays on the screen.
4.24    Enter the sample name and click ok.
4.25    Select the File menu and click on file operations.
4.26    Sub menu will be displayed on the screen.
4.27    Click data file save as.
4.28    Data file name will be displayed.
4.29    Enter the file name and click ok.
4.30    Select the file menu, click on file operations and activate save data continuous.
4.31    Select edit menu and click on parameters.
4.32    Method parameters window displayed on the screen.
4.33    Click on screen.
4.34    Enter the scale range and time range.
4.35    Enter that the instrument is in ready position with green led glowing.
4.36    Rinse the syringe with sample solution thoroughly.
4.37    Inject the prescribed volume of sample in the injection port.
4.38    Immediately press program start on the instrument and run start on the monitor.
4.39    The chromatogram can be viewed on the screen.
4.40    As the run completes oven cool the initial set oven temperature.
4.41    Select the edit menu and click on parameters.
4.42    Method parameter window displayed on the screen.
4.43    Click on integration.
4.44    Enter the values of peak width, peak threshold, area reject and height reject and 
            click ok.
4.45    Report ready displays on the screen.
4.46    Click on yes to display the report.
4.47    Select the print menu, activate the print as per screen and click on print report.
4.48    Data enter in to the GC logbook as per Annexure –1.
